Meet Apex

We’re delighted to announce Apex, one of the UK’s top motorsport and performance parts suppliers, as multi-show sponsors of a series of Fast Car Entertainment events including Japfest Donington.

Apex look after a host of top automotive brands, including KSport, Hardrace and BC Racing. All of these chassis goliaths are ideally suited to the Fast Car Entertainment events’ portfolio and are a perfect fit for Japfest. Make sure you visit the Apex stand based within the Retail Village of the show.

We catch up with Bren Simpson, from Apex Performance about Japfest Donington:

Q) Apart from being the biggest Japanese car shows in Europe, why have Apex decided to get involved in the event?

A) We like the opportunity to meet our customers and chat to them about our products. We find a lot of existing customers come to see us to say hello and discuss the parts and speak to us about optimising their set up. We take any feedback on board and funnel that back into the continuous ongoing R&D. There is always room for improvement and speaking to people face to face offers a fantastic way to see how we are doing. We don't attend the shows with any stock, we aren't there to sell goods and make a profit, we are there to give people the chance to see the goods up close and personal and to discuss them with us.

Q) What have you got planned for the show and why should show goers head to your stand?

A) We are taking our Skyline. It runs a 6.7-litre V8 dry sump race engine. It’s a bit of a beast. It will be based on the stand but we will also be taking it out on track for a bit of fun. It’s worth coming to have a look at. There will be a number of other tasty cars on there too. We also have a selection of products on display so people can come and see what we offer in the flesh to check the quality of components and to speak to us about which products from the range best fits their needs.

Q) What do you like the most about the Japanese tuning scene in the UK at the moment?

A) The enthusiasm of the owners. I'm getting long in the tooth now but I’ve been mad about cars since I was a boy. Had my first driving lesson the moment I got home from school on my 17th birthday and haven't looked back since. I've always run a wild range of modified cars and, like many, have always spent far more than I should on running and modifying them. And I'm still doing the same! The show is made up for thousands of like-minded people; it’s great fun to be around.

Q) What excites you the most about the show being held at the legendary Donington Park circuit?

A) Donington is a superb flowing circuit, one of my favorites. I’m really looking forward to getting out there and having a play.

Q) What’s next for Apex and your brands? Any new and exciting products on their way in 2018?

A) We are always expanding the range of products we offer but within our current range of brands. We don't spend energy on bringing more brands on board, we concentrate on doing what we do with our current brands and making sure we stock what people want and need and can offer the best customer service within our niche. It’s easy to spread yourself too thin so we are keen to keep our expertise and knowledge base tight and focused on a limited number of product ranges. Our brands are complimentary, Hardrace for chassis control, BC Racing for suspension and KSport for braking. They're interlinked and work together. It’s all about making the car faster through handling and braking, we leave the other areas of tuning to the other specialists.
